They are tucked away where those who pass by on the area hiking trail never see this view, hence the label of secret falls. This view is only available if one parts from the trail and works their way down the mountain into the creek canyon level below. Hip waders were used to get out far enough into Eagle Creek (Columbia Gorge, Oregon) to center the falls through the nearly vertical canyon walls.
