JEM Deer Creek Reservoir in the Cold, Cold Winter
Deer Creek Reservoir, west side trail, near Soldier Hollow, south of Midway, Utah: Looking southwest in the photo, across Deer Creek Reservoir and onto the backside of the Wasatch Mountains. Ominous mountain fog and clouds are less threatening with blue sky showing through in various places. The owner and her spouse took this hike in weather that was windy, cold (single digit F degrees) and icy. The reservoir is almost completely frozen, as shown, and winter shades of gray and blue all blend to make a wonderful composite for this photo. During this hike, camera batteries had to be kept in warm pants pockets so the cold wouldn’t drain them. Only when in actual use was a battery placed in a camera.
