JEM Aspen Grove to Emerald Lake Trail

Timpanogos Trail, just off the Alpine Loop Hwy, Utah: As one arrives in the Emerald Lake area, this is the southern view. The summit of Mt. Timpanogos is the tall peak to the right. This photo is taken near the 10,000 ft. level, leaving another 1,700 of elevation, plus two miles of hiking to arrive at the summit. Just prior to Emerald Lake are several canyon walls that are very steep, and the hiking trail zig-zags back and forth coming up across those walls. Along the way the way are many small creeks during snow melt time. Some hikers travel in the early morning, dark hours so that they are on the Timpanogos Summit at daybreak to view the very beautiful sunrise.
