The Cape Lookout Lighthouse is located on South Core Banks Island, accessible only by boat. Untouched by a bridge, Cape Lookout National Seashore has remained a unique coastal wilderness area, one of the few remaining in the world. At one time several communities thrived on the 59-mile-stretch of Portsmouth Village. Today, it is a remote area that offers solitude, shell hunting, and fishing.
