The Bald Head Lighthouse, the oldest standing lighthouse in the North Carolina, rises above old live oak trees that grow near its base. It is affectionately known as "Old Baldy." Each face reveals its older, "Federal octagonal" architecture. Of the original eleven built in the U.S., nine still stand including Old Baldy. However, it is the only Federal octagonal built of brick instead of cut stone. It memains the foremost symbol of this charming island. Offered in both horizontal and vertical format.
