After the blast.

Late afternoon on March 8, 2005, Mount Saint Helens went through an impressive ash eruption, spewing ash 36,000 feet up into the atmosphere. The eruption only lasted for 15 minutes. Twenty four hours later, when this picture was taken, steam was seen rising from the crater as snow melted into the newly exposed lava.
