A black tail deer perched in a dusky sunlit mountain pass high atop Hurricane Ridge, in the Olympic National Forest, Washington State, July 2006.
These photo-friendly black-tailed deer are in abundance at Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic National Park, Washington State. Since they are accustomed to people they will graze peacefully in this beautiful mountain setting and allow us to stumble and fumble around with our cameras clicking and hearts ticking. This place is truly a photographers dream come true, especially during the evening hours in a soft yellow hazy sunlight. The scenic mountain pass pictured here can be found by taking the Hurricane Hill Trail and turning to the left on the Elwha branch after about two miles.
