Patty and I were mystified (pardon the pun) by Avalanche Gorge, a misty little mountain stream which spends all its time pounding through an ancient moss-covered rock gorge in the Rocky Mountains. In the process it lends a continuous spray of water for the small western hemlocks, red cedars, ferns, moss and other plants struggling to survive on the sheer sides of the gorge. The rich green coloration of this rugged landscape is amazing in its texture variety and depth of color. Avalanche Gorge can be found at the end of an inspiring little half mile hike at Glacier National Park, Montana.
