It’s been said the mountain lion, properly known as the Puma, has more names than any other animal. Names like cougar, catamount, painter, American lion, Mexican lion, Florida panther, silver lion, brown tiger, deer tiger, ghost cat, mountain screamer, Indian devil, sneak cat, king cat, and painted cat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mountain_lion) all seem to bring visions of mystique, mystery and the magic of the untamed wilderness. This design portrays the ghost-like quality of this big cat as he glides down the side of a steep mountain slope, while intently focused on some object of prey just ahead. The conflicting diaginal lines of the compositions add tension and a pensive mood.
