An extended horizontal art print of herd of elk roaming through a misty morning field of cattails

A misty morning is always a good place to find magic, at least in photography. That’s where I found it in this enchanting field of weathered cattails one morning up in front of Sheepshead Mountain in the Mission Mountains. The gentle slope in the field guides the line of motion downward and to the left where the misty elk bring the viewer’s eye back to the front center of the composition. And at last we’re left contemplating this lonely young elk in the foreground and wondering about such a mournful expression on this cheerful Rocky Mountain morning.
