Dr. Edward Cordes
Grizzly Bear Fighting.
This image is of a "minor" bear fight. The bear on the right is a mom and her 3 year old cub is beind her. The bear on the left is an interloper. They were all digging clams on the tidal flats. For some reason, despite there being more space for all 3 bear than necessary, the interloper got too close to "mom". She snarled at him without result so about 30 seconds of growling and swatting (no direct hits) occured. Mom won and she and her cub maintained control of their space. We were about 50 yards away and as soon as I made this capture our guide backed us up another 20 yards or so to be sure we were safe if the scuffle got more intense than it was.
