Edgar Degas
Degas, a French impressionist sculptor and painter, is best known for his compositions of ballerinas, women and horse racing scenes. Unlike his Impressionist contemporaries, Degas was not fascinated with how natural light affected a piece. He was instead interested with movement and people. Degas was heavily influenced by close friend Manet as well as Japanese graphic art. Degas' 'The Millinery shop' is a vivid painting of a woman working in her hat shop. In this piece Degas utilizes intense colors to bring the viewer into the millinery.
