Ando Hiroshige
The prominent Japenese woodblock print artist Ando Hiroshige was born in 1797 in Edo (Tokyo). His father Tokaui Tanaka was a samurai as well as a fireman. In 1809 both his mother and father died, leaving Ando to take over his father’s position at the firehouse.
