The client desired to make two enormous (24 by 80) prints which, after framing, were 30 by 88 inches in size. One was 88 inches wide and the other was 88 inches tall. There were also seven other large pictures to be printed and similarly framed. The next issue was the creation of these large pictures from the various sources available. The client had a variety of source material, including transparencies, prints, and digital files. Most of these sources were in color, but GTG wanted to have all of the prints be in black and white or some form of sepia. Sample prints were produced of different shades of sepia and black and white. These were shipped to the customer. Once a tint was selected, the next task was to create consistently detailed digital images for producing the large prints. Eventually, scanning, re-working in Photoshop, and even re-shooting of some images had been done. Due to the size of the finished products, special mat splicing, custom hard-back image mounting, and special freight arrangements were completed. All of the finished pictures were set with 3-inch white matting and covered (glazed) with non-glare acrylic (plexi-glass). Despite having seams in the mats, the seams were barely noticeable up close and invisible from a distance. The prints were produced using Epson Premium Lustre paper and the matting was all non-acidic. Mats are cut using our Wizard computerized Mat Cutter. DPPF enclosed each product in bubble wrap for local delivery to the shipping company. This whole process took an unusually long period of time to complete, but in hindsight, it seems that all of the steps were necessary in order to do the job right. A few days later, we were pleased to receive a nice letter from the client. DPPF will work with you, no matter how long it takes, to see that your order is the best it can be and the way you want it!
