Ozzie Sweet is “the Babe Ruth of photographers,” says Chuck Solomon,
himself a top photographer for Sports Illustrated. It’s a fitting comparison,
because Sweet has tallied a Ruthian number of magazine cover credits:
nearly 1,800 in a dizzying variety of fields. He’s most famous, of course, for
his timeless work for Sport magazine: He created the bulk of that publication’s
covers between 1949 and the early 1960s.(more)
After retiring from the NFL and moving to Waco, Texas, Bob Lilly’s
photographic interests broadened to include other natural
settings—particularly those cast in the light of a rising or setting
sun. He was quickly drawn to scenes that recalled his childhood in
Throckmorton, Texas. Rural themes such as old paint-chipped barns
and churches, or windmills creaking in a sea of golden grass, appear
consistently throughout Lilly’s work. Remembering family fishing
trips to Pagosa Springs and Durango, Colorado in his early teenage
years, Lilly began taking photographs of the mountains of this
region—capturing mineshafts iced in snow, preserved alongside
trout-filled, babbling streams. (more)
Emanuele
"Juza" Affaticati
has made intelligent use of digital technology in his stunning
"extreme close-ups" that capture the patterns on a tiny insect's wings
as easily as the dew encrusted surface of a flower petal at dawn. Juza's commitment to his craft is evident in each of his nature
photographs. While demonstrating a willingness to wait
patiently for the perfect moment to snap, he has enjoyed equal success
by remaining spontaneous and open to unusual possibilities. His St. Stefano by Night is
just one example of the sort of sudden beauty that
can present itself, without warning, in the midst of a sleepless night.

John Christopher specializes in nature and cityscape photography in the Pacific
Northwest region of the United States. John's enthusiasm for the Art began in the early sixties when, as a young teenager, he purchased his first camera, a twin lens reflex model. Even
though limited in its reach, that camera produced some nice "medium-format" negatives, which led John to experiment with darkroom processing techniques, then to advance to 35mm
SLRs. The digital image processing revolution opened up new possibilities and further increased John's life-long enthusiasm for Photography.(more)
